On this route you will explore the Huis ter Heide estate. This estate is 650 hectares with a varied landscape. The northern area consists mainly of forest and the southern area consists of fens and an agricultural plot. You will also find Scottish highlanders on this estate, who graze the land.

House ter Heide
On this small piece of nature you will find all kinds of animals and plants. Take a seat on a bench on the estate and enjoy the views. This estate includes a frog pond with yellow iris, floating pondweed, water sorrel and arrowhead. In addition to the green frog, moor frogs, fin-legged salamanders and crested newts also live here. There is also an old house from 1864, after which the estate is named. The house was originally intended as a hunting lodge.

Nature Gate Van Loon
At the beginning or at the end of the day you can drink a cup of coffee or eat something at Auberge De Moerse Hoeve at Natuurpoort Van Loon. This inn is located on the south side of the Loonse en Drunense National Park. The riding school is a family business and the family has 40 years of experience in equestrian sports. Would you like to extend your bike ride to a cycling weekend in this beautiful area? Then spend the night at the inn.

The Loonse and Drunense Dunes
Part of this route takes you through De Loonse en Drunense Duinen National Park. This nature reserve is special, because the shifting sand can actually drift freely here. You won't find that on such a large scale anywhere else in Europe. In addition to sand, the Loonse en Drunense Duinen consists of forests with conifers, streams, marshes and here and there a characteristic farm. A wonderfully quiet area to cycle through. From Natuurpoort Van Loon you can follow various cycling routes, such as route 114724. So feel free to come back again to try out a new route in this beautiful area.
