Tour of Leeuwarden and De Groene Ster

This cycling route starts at Camping Kaasboerderij Johanna Hoeve, where you can enjoy the rural tranquility. And yet you can see Leeuwarden nearby. The sixteenth and seventeenth centuries were a golden age for Leeuwarden. For centuries it was the residence of the Nassaus, who became governors of the northern provinces. They lived in the Stadtholder's Court. You will see beautiful buildings such as the Chancellery (where justice was administered), the Waag and the leaning tower of the Oldehove. There is a weekly market every Friday on Wilhelminaplein. After crossing the city center, you will find the peace and quiet of the De Groene Ster nature and recreation area. In addition to some protected peat bogs, you will find ponds, sunbathing areas, a beach and greenery. A nice place to take a break with a picnic from the city!
