Description

From sea to polder area
Park your car on the edge of the village of Wieringerwerf and then quickly get on your bike to explore the Wieringermeerpolder. In the 12th century this area was flooded and subsequently became part of the sea. Construction of the current polder started in 1927. In 1930 the polder was completely dry again and from 1934 the Wieringermeerpolder was used for agriculture. You cycle through this polder to small towns such as Aartswoud, Lambertschaag and Opperdoes.
Historical Medemblik
If you stop in Medemblik for a break, you should also take a look at the center of this old town. It is full of beautiful sights from the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries. For example, admire the Waag at the cheese market, the many historic warehouses and the old Medemblik station, where an old steam tram still passes regularly.
