Short coastal and castle route: Renesse and Burgh-Haamstede

Your cycling route starts with an overnight stay or a cup of coffee at De Zeeuwse Stromen, near the beach of Renesse. From here you first follow the coastline for a long time before you dive into the dune area towards Burgh-Haamstede. You first cycle through Burgh. This town arose around a ring rampart, raised at the end of the ninth century against robbery Normans. A footpath leads from the Kerkstraat to the burg. Here you can take a look at the reconstructed burg. In Haamstede you drive past Slot Haamstede. After a fire, the castle was rebuilt in the sixteenth century. You cycle back to your starting point via Slot Moermond, originally dating from the thirteenth century. In recent years, the damaged walls of, among other things, the moat have been restored.
