Tour of Emmeloord, Schokland and Vollenhove

From afar you can already see Poldertoren from 1959 in Emmeloord. With its 65.30 meters it is one of the highest water towers in the Netherlands. You cycle past Bread and Pastry Bakery Hendrik Schaap in Emmeloord for a nice piece of Blokzijler Brok. On the northern tip of the former island of Schokland you will find the national monument the Lichtwachterswoning. Since 1901 this was the official residence for the harbor master. For example, the port of Emmeloord could be retained as a refuge after the evacuation of Schokland in 1859. Just before the end of the route, close to junction 14, you will see a striking elevation in the landscape: Oud-Kraggenburg, a former artificial island in the Zuiderzee. The monumental lightkeeper's house dates from 1877.
