Description

Delft is known for its associations with the royal family. In 1572, William of Orange came to live in what was then Sint Agathaklooster in Delft. He was murdered in this Prinsenhof in Delft in 1584. The Royal Tombs can still be found in the Nieuwe Kerk. The world-famous founder of international law, Hugo de Groot, was also born in Delft - you can see his statue on the Markt. The Bieslandse Bos was created around 1985 for wood production, but now has a recreational function. The Bieslandse Polder was pumped dry around 1780. Then you walk into the Delftse Hout city park, where you walk along the Grote Plas.
