Moerdijk, North Brabant, The Netherlands
Cycling route: 1060235
Provided by: VVV Moerdijk
Get on your bike at the Market in Standdaarbuiten. Once on the road you will soon reach the hamlet of De Schans. A little further, on the Noordhoek dike towards junction 34, is the St. Joseph Church where the villagers took shelter during the overwhelming noise of war in November '44. You also follow this route and then cycle further towards the center of Zevenberg. The Gothic St. Catherine's Church is the only monument to survive the Second World War and is definitely worth a visit. Close to the current roundabout between junctions 37 and 41, both an RAF Boulton Paul Defiant (1940) and a Wellington bomber (1942) crashed. Just past junction 13 is the't Sandt community center. On the side of this house there is a mosaic in memory of the 278 fallen soldiers and the hundreds of wounded of the Timberwolf division.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
