Hiking in Westerveld, Drenthe, The Netherlands
Hiking route 1045134
Provided by: route.nl
After a night's sleep under the stars in one of the studios of B&B De Ster van Dwingeloo, you start this walking route. You walk more than twenty kilometers through the Holtingerveld and Dwingelderveld. Both nature reserves have a moist character due to a low boulder clay in the soil. Water remains in this layer. Heather and moor grass grow together with more rare plants such as gentian bellflower and peat rush. For thousands of years people have migrated over these moors. Ever to find food. Much later to graze cattle. Now walkers and cyclists make good use of the dozens of winding paths, picnic areas and benches in this primeval area. Back at the accommodation you can enjoy the beautiful, quiet heath as a backyard.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
