Discover the heart of West Friesland

From Lutjebroek you drive into the heart of West Friesland. You can get a breath of fresh air here while cycling through the polders with their wide grasslands and ditches. You regularly see the bell-shaped farms that are characteristic of this region. There are also many old churches, such as the beautiful fifteenth-century Nicholas Church in Hauwert. In Spanbroek there is a beautiful town hall from 1598. Just past Oostwoud you pass the Egboetswater. You will find plenty of peace and quiet in this small-scale nature reserve. This way you can optimally enjoy the mix of water, forest, meadow and water birds. Just past Wervershoof is De Hoop, a flour mill from 1889. In 2010 it was chosen as the most beautiful in North Holland. Since 2013, the mill has housed a museum about Theo Koomen, the legendary sports reporter. The route ends with something tasty at Fruitkwekerij't Keetje.
