Sint-Truiden is located close to Hasselt and Tongeren in Flemish Limburg. A beautiful town whose belfry on the Grote Markt and the Sint-Agnesbegijnhof can be found on the Unesco World Heritage List. This cycle route of about fifty kilometers through the fruity Haspengouw departs from the office of Tourism Sint-Truiden. This region in the south of Limburg is excellent for fruit growing and viticulture due to the rolling landscape. Along the way you cycle through this hilly area past castles, churches and you pass no fewer than four wine estates. At wine estate Hoenshof, Kitsberg, Marsnil and Gloire de Duras you will get to know authentic wine stories during a tour. And do you cycle here around April? Then the landscape turns white with the beautiful spring blossom.

Jerom Winery

Heirbaan 66 18
3800 Borgloon

More and more Haspengouw fruit growers are diversifying by planting vines, partly because of the changing climate. Jerom Winery, founded by Jerom Houben, makes sustainable quality wines from these grapes. Together they work on healthy, residue-free wines that are above all very tasty. Jerom received from his father, prof. Dr. Ghislain Houben, viticulture, as it were, with the feeding bottle. Today they run the Hoenshof domain together. They won several times the election of 'Best Belgian Wine'.

Evi and Daniel wanted to produce their own top quality wine. In 2008 their dreams finally came true and they decided to start a vineyard. This is a family business where viticulture is done according to modern techniques. The vines planted are Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc and M? Ller-Thurgau.

Wijndomein Marsnil

The youngest generation of Vanmarsenille-Cornelis is moving towards the cultivation of white and red grapes. The seven grandchildren of Paul Vanmarsenille give a new destination to 'difficult' field. The vineyard is located in the area 'Marsnil', undoubtedly the origin of their family name Vanmarsenille. The cultivation takes place in a natural way, with preparations based on herbs and plants from the environment, without the use of pesticides. Unique in Flanders.
