Along the Utrecht Vecht

From Farm Campsite Doornenbal, you can take a beautiful route along the Utrecht Vecht. Rippling water, vast fields, and reed beds: it is wonderfully peaceful cycling here! Especially since you mainly ride along car-free paths. You won't be short of history either. Along the Vecht lie a number of village gems, such as Loenen aan de Vecht, Vreeland, and Nigtevecht. Here you can admire plenty of old houses, churches, country estates, and tea pavilions. Just like in Weesp: with no fewer than 200 national monuments, it is no wonder that this fortified town enjoys protected townscape status. Here you can see, among other things, the Fort aan de Ossemarkt. Windmills are also not lacking in this quintessential Dutch landscape. Just after Nigtevecht, you can see the Garstenmolen from 1876 and the Hoekermolen from 1874, among others. What an experience!
