Tour of the Nieuwkoop Lakes and Leimuiden

This route is full of rivers, lakes and vast polders. From Noorden you take a bicycle ferry for a unique crossing through the Nieuwkoopse Plassen. You look out over grasslands, reed beds and lowland peat bogs. Please note: you can only make this crossing in the summer. From junction 57 you cycle along the Meije. On the bank you see pollard willows, old farms and the almost sixty-metre high white water tower from 1932. You cycle north through the polders. Via Rijnsaterwoude you arrive in Leimuiden. You can enjoy a delicious meal here at Prik & Proost, before you cycle back into the polders. After junction 11 you pick up the towpath along the Amstel. Finally, you cycle along the Kromme Mijdrecht back to the car park in Noorden.
