Description
This walking route takes you through the Cartierheide and the Kempen. Napoleon's armies marched on the historic sandy paths of the Cartierheide and the forests were the terrain of smugglers for centuries. The varied heathland area owes its name to the baron de Cartier de Marchienne, who owned parts of it as a hunting ground until 1932. In addition to various types of heathland, you will find the pearl butterfly, viviparous lizard and smooth snake.
