Tholen, Zeeland, The Netherlands
Cycling route: 1014931
Provided by: route.nl
Your route starts at Hart van Tholen. The island of Tholen is wonderfully quiet, beautiful for a bike ride with fields and meadows that stretch between hamlets and numerous old mills. At the beginning of the eleventh and twelfth centuries, the island was flooded by the sea, after which the first dikes were built. The pleasant fortified town of Tholen owes its name to the toll that was levied there around the fourteenth century, on the Schelderijnkanaal and the Striene. From here you go west, until you reach the Oosterschelde. On the other side of the sea arm you look out over Zuid-Beveland. Then you cycle past mills and through meadows to Sint Annaland. At Nieuw-Vossemeer you cross the water for a visit to Brabant.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
