Your route starts at Pannenkoe Leusden. You'll first walk to the Lockhorsterbos, named after the Lockhorst patrician family. Here, various deciduous and coniferous trees grow together. The stately oaks and beeches are estimated to be over 200 years old. This hike also takes you to the Stoutenburg estate. You'll walk through the estate's woods, which consist largely of deciduous trees and some conifers. No fewer than 66 bird species have been recorded here, including the hobby, kingfisher, woodpecker, and tawny owl. If you enjoy birdwatching, this is the perfect place to be. You'll also pass the Stoutenburg country house, built here at the beginning of the 19th century. It replaced a medieval castle. Then you'll walk back to Leusden.
