First have a cup of coffee at De Rustende Jager and then you cycle into De Loonse en Drunense Duinen National Park. The living drifting sands in the Loonse and Drunense Dunes are not found on such a large scale anywhere in Europe, but you also see many conifers there. Via a beautiful rural route you drive back to Heusden, an old-style restored fortified town on the Maas. Take your time here to admire the many centuries-old buildings. You will encounter a lot of water along the way. The mighty Maas, but also various wheels, bear witness to past dike breaches. This is how the Nieuwkuijkse Wiel was created in 1880, after the Bergsche Maas flooded. It used to flow here during times of high water. There are many birds to spot on and around the lake!
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
