Description

Discover the highest mound in the Netherlands, Hegebeintum! This route also leads you through the nice village of Oudebildtzijl and along the ancient Harsta State.

Hegebeintum
From your starting point at Ginnum you quickly cycle to the Harsta State. It was built around the 17th century. Aemilius Josinus de Schepper became the owner in 1762 and had a rococo-shaped fence placed on the dam of the moated grounds. Then you cycle through the village of Hegebeintum, on the highest mound in the Netherlands. There is a visitor center'Terp Hegebeintum\\\', where tickets are also available for guided tours to the twelfth-century Romanesque church.

Oudebildzijl
The Kleilânsmole, a polder mill that was built in 1865, is an octagonal ground sailer. You can admire the striking Juliana Church from 1806 here. After the birth of Princess Juliana in 1909, a bell was hung in the tower. You cycle back in the lee of the sea dike.
