Between Bilthoven and Bosch & Duin you walk through some beautiful, connected country estates. First you walk your legs on the leafy and car-free Dennenweg. You pass a number of beautiful houses here. Then you walk a bit through the Panbos, a relatively young forest where mainly Scots pines grow. In the adjacent Beerschoten Estate you walk through an English landscape park with a flowing stream, meadows and old avenues. If you don't see anyone for a while, you can secretly daydream about taking a stroll around your own country estate. Heyntjeskamp dates from 1645 and consists largely of deciduous forest on former drifting sand. Further on you pass the Knollentuin, a walled vegetable garden that used to belong to the Tannenberg country estate.

Sights

Konijnenberg

3732HB De Bilt

This artificial hill is part of the landscape park and lies in the middle of a star-shaped avenue pattern. Five avenues from different directions converge on the Konijnenberg. There is a lime tree on top of the hill.

Buitenplaats Beerschoten

Beelden op Beerschoten 6A
3732HM De Bilt

The first Beerschoten house was built in 1685. In 1889 it almost burned down to be rebuilt in largely the same style. After the war, the house fell into disrepair, but it was completely restored in 1978 and converted into an office. Now is it? after another thorough restoration? privately inhabited again. The estate has a park forest in the English landscape style, which was designed in 1824 by garden architect JD Zocher Jr. It is located on the spot where an 18th century park already existed. Between the meandering ponds, a flowing brook and meadows with groups of trees, elements of the old construction are recognizable: straight beech avenues and a star forest with the 'Konijnenberg' and 'Goudviskom'. The park is owned by Utrecht Landscape. The Paviljoen Beerschoten visitor center is located in the former coach house.

Heyntjeskamp

Schaapsdrift
3732HM De Bilt

Heyntjeskamp dates from 1645 and consists largely of spontaneous forest on former drifting sand. We find a varied forest with Scots pine, native oak, beech and birch. Heyntjeskamp is an important water extraction area for the province of Utrecht.
