This cycling tour takes you from the countryside to Middelburg, the capital of Zeeland. Get a breath of fresh air along the Veerse Meer, enjoy the villages you pass through: here you can completely recover.
Middelburg
You first cycle along the Binnenhaven of Middelburg. After the threat of Vikings, Middelburg developed into a trading center and was the second most important city in the Netherlands at the time of the VOC. In 200 years, more than 300 new ships were built in the shipyards.
Veerse Meer
Then you cycle towards Veere - it is worthwhile to cycle through here and drink a cup of coffee while you breathe in the historic atmosphere. Then you can get a breath of fresh air on the cycle path along the Veerse Meer while enjoying beautiful views. Here you see the Middelplaat, some uninhabited islands. Well, uninhabited: many breeding birds live there. And a herd of Haflinger ponies! You cycle back to square one via Wolphaartsdijk and Arnemuiden.
