Description
Den Ham is an attractive green village. Ideal for exploring on foot. In the countryside you can walk in peace over the Mageler es.

The route starts at Lunchroom Bakkerij Kaptein. Enjoy a drink and something tasty on the cozy terrace, so that you can set off refreshed. First you walk out of Den Ham. Soon you walk up the Mageler es. Sitting on the bench at the top you have a beautiful view of the area. And you experience a wonderfully invigorating silence.
Act of valor
On the edge of Den Ham you walk past the cemetery. Three Commonwealth pilots are buried here. In 1943, one of them prevented his faltering bomber from crashing into Den Ham after a mission in Germany. He only succeeded in this by continuing to steer the aircraft until the crash. Then you walk into the village. You can see some beautiful old buildings here. The tower of the beautiful village church dates from 1607, the church itself dates from 1840.
