De Weerribben National Park from Paasloo

From here you can discover the Weerribben, part of De Weerribben-De Wieden National Park. The area consists of open water, reed beds, swamp forests that cover no less than 35 square kilometers. Part of the Weerribben is used for reed cultivation, in these places you will see acid-loving trees such as alder, mountain ash and birch. Mill Ossenzijl is also located on the route. This tjasker mill is relatively young compared to other mills in the Netherlands and was only built in 1977. It still performs its function and is used to supply the polder land behind with water. The mill can be approached within a few meters and cannot be overlooked because it is located in an open area.
