City walk Leiden

You can only really discover how beautiful Leiden is with a walk. This route takes you along some iconic places. You pass the Morspoort from 1669, the associated Morspoort bridge was built for the first time in 1611. You cross the Galgewater via a replica of the seventeenth-century Rembrandt bridge. Then you walk across the ancient Rapenburg: the most famous canal in Leiden. The Van der Werfpark was built in 1886 on the spot where the devastating Leiden gunpowder disaster took place in 1807. In the Breestraat you pass the sixteenth-century town hall, after the Hooglandse Kerk you pass the Sint Annahofje, which was founded in 1492. You walk through the Ankerpark to the Zijlpoort from 1667, past the Oude Vest and the Boerhavemuseum you walk to Catwalk Coffee & Lunch.
