Experience extraordinary art treasures in the oldest cultural landscape of the Netherlands.
Experience a journey full of inspiration centered on the theme of 'Rest and reflection'.
Kapellenbaan leads you past modern and traditional art objects and existing heritage, in an area known as the oldest cultural landscape of the Netherlands. Where new layers were continuously added to the culture from the Romans until after the Second World War, Kapellenbaan adds dimensions from 2020 onwards.
Along your route, you will discover artworks by renowned artistic 'boundary pushers' who have explored the theme of 'Rest and Reflection'. Each of these works is uniquely situated to connect with the distinctive landscape and with regional cultural and social traditions.
The works are by Frank Havermans, Sachi Miyachi, Eveline Visser, and Maria Roosen. New works and special activities are in preparation (2024).
Along this route, also discover the unique (religious) art treasures that have been added to the region over the centuries. From the Severijn organ in Cuijk (1625/1650) to the Maurits window in the Crosier Monastery in St. Agatha (1618/1620). Or pause at locations with a special story, such as the Jewish cemetery in Vierlingsbeek or the modern mosaics of the Ellen Hofmannplein in Gennep.
